Payment Processor Climbs The Nilson Report’s List of Top Merchant Acquirers for the Seventh Straight Year

Clearent, a St. Louis-based payments solution provider, announced that it advanced on The Nilson Report’s list of Top U.S. Acquirers in 2017. Clearent’s volume grew by 55 percent over 2016 as a result of its first acquisition and the continued growth of its sales teams and customer base.

Clearent delivered industry-leading products in 2017 that helped speed up transactions and make them even more secure. The company was among the first to introduce Quick Chip technology for EMV, a solution that significantly speeds up chip card transactions to make them just as fast as a card swipe. The company’s Point-to-Point Encryption solution achieved PCI validation, which means merchants using it can now take the SAQ P2PE with up to 90 percent fewer questions and they do not need to conduct vulnerability scans or penetration testing.

In March of last year, the company acquired Payment Alliance International’s Merchant Services Division. The acquisition added support and operations resources, a complementary telesales channel, strategic association partnerships and added 17,000 merchants to Clearent’s portfolio.

Looking ahead to 2018, Clearent expects to continue its strong organic growth trajectory and also grow through additional acquisitions. In the first quarter of the year, the company completed the acquisitions of SPOT Business Systems, LLC, an independent software vendor serving customers in the dry-cleaning industry, and FieldEdge, a leading field service management software provider. Additionally, Clearent also brought on a new private equity investor, Advent International.
