One of the most important tasks of our association is to ensure a strong future for our industry. The best ways to do this is to empower our children with knowledge. For decades RSPA has awarded the children and grandchildren of dealer-members with scholarships for higher education; an honorable and essential program for our future leaders.

The scholarship awards are plentiful. Each year the top scholarship applicant is awarded the Shirley and Stanley Hayman Scholarship. The Hayman Scholarship provides the greatest monetary award and is our most prestigious scholarship. In addition, each year, dozens of scholarships are awarded from the David F. Ziletti Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Hayman Scholarship Fund is used exclusively for the Hayman Scholarship while the David F. Ziletti Memorial Scholarship Fund is utilized for all remaining scholarship awards.

There is a rigorous application process including the review of the student's grades and essays administered by a professor at Northwestern University. RSPA's Scholarship Committee provides oversight for the program with the RSPA Endowment Committee providing guidance and oversight for our Scholarship Endowment Fund.

For 2008 we have launched a Special Fund Drive for RSPA's 60th Anniversary with the goals of raising $60,000 for our scholarship funds and to fully endow the Hayman Scholarship Fund. We are off to a good start! To date more than $25,000 have been donated to all the scholarship funds. But we need an additional $35,000 to meet our goal of $60,000 for RSPA's 60th Anniversary.

When making a donation you can identify the fund of choice.

Hayman Scholarship Fund

  • Fund A for the Children and Grandchildren of Dealer Member Owners
  • Fund B for the Children and Employees of all Dealer Member Companies
  • As part of our $60,000 goal we would like to fully endow the Hayman Scholarship Fund.
We will need $20,000 to fully endow the Hayman Fund. To assist RSPA in meeting that goal, the Hayman family has pledged a match of $10,000 when $10,000 in donations has been made to the Hayman Scholarship Fund.

This is a truly timely pledge given the recent loss of one of our association's founders and passionate supporter, Stanley Hayman.

As you know Stanley was instrumental in writing the history book which was part of ICRDA's 50th anniversary celebration. Just prior to his passing, Stanley provided a personalized letter for 20 special copies of the ICRDA's 50th Anniversary history book. The letter and book will be provided for any donations of $1,000 or more to the 2008 Scholarship Fund Drive.
